One of the most demanded requests from users is improved support of mobile & tablet devices.
Centrix was developed at a time when support for modern web technologies (e.g. HTML5, CSS3) was highly inconsistent. Consequently, the software was developed using a rich internet application ("RIA") framework that uses used Adobe Flash Player to deliver a rich and consistent user interface across many web browsers. This approach is less favoured for new application development or where mobile access is paramount.
Unfortunately, as the popularity, consistency and performance of modern web technologies improved, support for Adobe Flash Player has been dropped on many mobile platforms (such as Android and iOS)and is due to become obsolete in late 2020.
All new development in Centrix will be is being undertaken using modern web application development techniques, designed to deliver a consistent & performant experience across both desktop and mobile platforms.
Existing The majority of Centrix features are being have already been migrated from the existing RIA framework to a modern web application framework.
We aim to deliver a smooth crossover between the existing and new developments in the system with tight integration of components, and a fairly consistent user experience.
- Support of all application features from desktop & tablet devices.
- Higher performance.
- Support of reduced application features from smaller mobile devices.
- Generally improved user experience.
- Faster development of new features.
- Reduced risk of security vulnerabilities from using unmaintained software.
Support for legacy browsers will be dropped. This will include all Internet Explorer versions before IE10IE11, with IE11 being the minimum supported version. Users running legacy operating systems (e.g. Windows XP7) should install the most recent version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari.
All users should ensure their browsers are set to auto-update in order to receive all security patches and feature updates.
If you are required to use a legacy browser to support other software packages, we recommend you arrange the installation of any of the alternative browsers listed below for accessing Centrix.
We recommend using the latest available version of Google Chrome for the best experience on both desktop and mobile devices.
Alternative supported browsers:
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari (for Mac and Apple mobile devices)
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer 11 is supported but we do not recommend its use, as it is much less performant than the recommended browsers.
If you are using Internet Explorer 10 or earlier you are likely to be unable to use many of the features in Centrix.
